Our drinking water is from a huge subterranean aquifer (a body of water trapped between layers of rock) 200 feet below the surface. It has been there since long before our modern age of pollutants. Once we extract the water it goes through two of the most dependable purifying processes. First, we do reverse osmosis on the water, effectively removing most of the minerals, and then the water is deionized to remove all of the smaller particles. Once our water goes through these processes, the water only has less than 1 part-per-million of minerals to pure hydrogen and oxygen.
